Random stuff:

Cailin had her first cereal last night! Wasn't so sure about it, but she ate it! And I know she did eat some....'cause today she had the nastiest of all nasty diapers!

Murphy and Cailin are loving each other. He wants to be wherever she is ALL the time. And she could watch him all day. When she rolls over, she nearly rolls on him. He hasn't yet learned to keep his tail away from her. Once she gets her death grip on him, I have to pry her off one finger at a time - and usually she is laughing!

I read today that 75% of Americans have a pet...that's crazy!

I realized this apartment has the loudest dishwasher EVER....but, I also realized that if Cailin is fighting her nap, it's the one thing that will put her to sleep! HA!

The scale says that I am back to pre-baby weight....my jeans are saying something different? Who do I believe? I guess my jeans probably just shrunk while I was pregnant! :)

Leon got his car on Saturday! It's a Ford Edge.....pretty nice. We will get to test it out on our way to the Derby this weekend! YEA!!

I have met a friend here....the lady at the UPS store! Today she asked how I was doing, if I was getting around Brookings okay, etc. I almost asked her out for drinks! hee hee

Looking forward to Glee tonight....Leon even watches it, but don't tell anyone! ;) (....okay, he caught me...he says he likes it for the music.....)

May 5 is our anniversary! 3 years ago, we were in Vegas!! Our friends Mindy and Joe got Cailin this shirt!! Good thing I got this picture when I did....she had that nasty poop right after!

House!

Cailin is sleeping, so I thought this would be a good time to do an update on our Costello Chaos! It is feeling a little less chaotic these days......but probably not exactly back to 'normal', I'm really not sure if 'normal' will ever come back. This might just be our normal! :)

The offer we put in on the house was accepted last Friday! YEA!! We are so excited. We don't close until June 18, but its something to look forward to!

The house is a spec house, new construction. The builder is going to finish the basement, he had already finished the family room, we asked that he finish the two bedrooms and bath down there. It's a ranch, so upstairs there are three bedrooms, a master bath and main bath. Laundry is in a closet in the main hallway. The kitchen, dining room and living room are all open. They installed some white distressed cabinets in the kitchen, the builder is going to take those out and put in some regular dark wood cabinets. They offered to do it - I think it was the one thing keeping this house from selling. I'm am not real picky, but they were very odd looking and I think it would have affected our re-sale. The house is on a corner lot at the begining of a cul-de-sac - also has a 3-car garage, which we are probably most excited about! ;) The color is going to take some getting used to. The builder will seed the lawn and do the landscaping. There is a sprinkler system, so hopefully we will get the seed to GROW! The neighborhood is really nice....no sidewalks, they have walking trails throughout the houses (even less to shovel!)

Once we move, I will let everyone know our address....just not going to post it on the blog.

Days of THEIR Lives

Okay....Here's the quick recap for those of you who used to watch Days of Our Lives...much is happening in the relationship department. As a faithful viewer, it is my duty to keep my working friends up-to-date!
Carly is back and in love is Bo -- broke up Bo and Hope
Justin (who I think is Bo's half brother)- who was married to Adrian, is starting to like Hope
Hope, a dectective for Salem, is working with a Dr. who is supposed to be dead, is going around hitting people on the back of the head - changing her personality via some pill she is taking....more to come on that. (that's a good one)
Carly is the mother of Melanie, but gave her away at birth - they just figured this out
Melanie is married to Phillip, but yesterday made out with Nathan
Chloe is engaged to Daniel, Melanie's dad, but made out with Phillip because she thought something was going on with Daniel and Carly
EJ, who has two kids with Sami (and kidnapped one), is starting to fall in love with her.
Rafe loves Sami, but is having trust issues with her.
Sami is confused!
Nicole is out of jail and trying to get with Brady.
Brady is engaged to Arianna.
Arianna is working for Nicole.
Victor is engaged to Vivian just to keep her from hurting Melanie as a way to get back at Carly -- because Carly killed her husband - Vivian's nephew. Victor doesn't want anything to happen to Melanie because Phillip, his son, loves her. Even better Victor's other son, Bo is in love with Carly!! Victor isn't happy about that - wants Bo and Hope back together!
Stepheno is married to Kate. Sami still hates Stepheno. Her son with Lucas (Kate's son), Will, is living with Stepheno and Kate. EJ is trying to get her to move in with him at Stepheno's. Stepheno knows EJ kidnapped their daughter - is blackmailing EJ so that he can spend more time with his grandchildren.
Sometimes I miss the days of Marlena possessed by the devil -- it was easier to keep track of who was with who....and how they are related.

Busy couple days...

It's Thursday! YEA!! This week has gone by really fast!
Tuesday SDSU had a home baseball game, the weather was FANTASTIC! They beat Minnesota. Before the game Cailin and I ran a couple errands. One of which was to get her shots! I sometimes think the vaccinations are just a way to torture the parent!! I very rarely see tears, when I do - it takes all of me to stop from yelling at that horrible, wicked nurse! ;) Bad news is that they only had one of the two shots, SO we have to go back! Tuesday we also put an offer in on a house. We have been countered and countered back a couple times. We put our final offer in yesterday around 3 pm and haven't heard back yet. No news could be good news??
Yesterday I waited for a service guy/lady to come and fix our TV, was supposed to be here between 8 am - noon.....of course they never showed up or bothered to call!! AGH! They rescheduled for Saturday. Yesterday afternoon Cailin and I went to Sioux Falls to see my Aunt Sharon in the hospital.
Now I am on the phone with Sears again to reschedule my Saturday appointment! Are you kidding! Get it together!
Saturday SDSU is going to have their Spring Game. It may rain....hope it holds off!
THEN, we are on to the Kentucky Derby count down!! We are headed to Fairbank on Thursday night. Cailin is going stay with Grandma and Grandpa for the weekend. She is very excited to show them all she can do!! Leon and I are driving to Kentucky with my Mom on Friday. We should get there Friday evening - to meet my brother and his family!! Saturday is the Derby day! Mom gets to watch my nieces while we go place our bets! I hope we have good weather!

Milestones

(I've been working on this post since Saturday!)

A birthday, 5 months old, a haircut, going from back to front and crazy sleep!

It has been a GREAT last couple days for the Costellos.

My niece celebrated her 5th birthday on April 14th! I can't believe she is FIVE! I got to talk to her on Skype the morning of her birthday...she was SO cute, dressed in her "IT'S MY BIRTHDAY" t-shirt and her tutu skirt! She was on her way to dance class, then off to Red Robin.....yum! Sounds like a great birthday to me! Oh, AND she got to spend the day with BOTH Mom and Dad! Dad was lucky to have the day off from practice! HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRACE! (I would post a cute picture, but my bro told me he hasn't signed a wavier yet for my blog! ;) )
Murphy got a haircut on Friday, and boy did he get it cut!! It was way too long and it took me awhile to get him into a groomer in Brookings...he was pretty matted and knotted up....so she cut it pretty short!! Its the shortest its ever been!


Saturday Cailin was 5 months old!! That is just CRAZY! We are loving this stage, she is starting to interact a lot more. She will just stare at you when you talk or laugh, like she is figuring it all out! She's come a long way since the incubator in the NICU. She loves her feet, putting everything in her mouth, drooling, smiling, talking and pinching my arm!

AND.....Saturday she rolled from her back to her belly!! Both Leon and I saw it-she rolled toward Leon!! She's been working on it pretty hard. I guess we are pretty lucky that she seems to have forgotten how to roll back to her back! Otherwise she would be on the MOVE! Here's a video, I got it on our first take! ;)


Cailin is sleeping about 11 hours a night.....it is remarkable! We haven't started on cereal yet. Since she is sleeping so good we decided to wait a little bit! I did buy some cereal, spoons and bowls the other day.....-k- I'll admit it....I don't know what I'm doing!! I probably need to read up a little, my target date is 2nd week in May. I am a goofball!! Same goes with switching from pumping to formula.....just not sure how!!! hee, hee!!

We are really close to finding a house! We are, hopefully, going out again tonight, we might even put in an offer! We'll see! Will let you know soon!

ARKANSAS!!!

WOW, not sure where to start! I was trying to figure out how to post from my phone, but I don't think I can.

Well, Cailin and I just got back from our Arkansas trip! Last Wednesday night we went to Akron to stay at Mom's. Thursday morning we went to Marlys' house and loaded up her car for the trip! Marlys is a friend of our family, also, her husband is my dad's cousin - so that makes her family, whether she likes it or not! :)

We were VERY excited to get to Nicole's house! It was about 7 hours in the car. Cailin did great! She pretty much stayed on her schedule.

Travis was the first to get her out of her car seat and give her the bottle.

Friday, Nicole and I got to meet up with some friends from high school!! We haven't seen Holly for 12 years! We met Holly when we were about 5 years old! She lived on the block next to ours....we spent hours playing with her and her sister, Abby. Holly now lives in Colorado Springs and Abby lives just north of Fayetteville, in Springdale, AR. It just so happened Holly and her family were visiting Abby!

Saturday was the Arkansas track meet! Nicole headed up to Iowa City for her friend's bachelorette party, so it was Mom, Cailin, Marlys and I to the track! We put on our Razorback apparel and headed to see the running, jumping and throwing!

Sunday was a pretty lazy day! We sat on Nicole's patio. She got back to town around 2:00 pm. We went out to the house they bought and are fixing up! It is looking great! Their view is spectacular!!

We also went out to an Italian restaurant for supper.

Monday was our shopping day!! Cailin had a special shirt for her day! Aunt Nicole bought that shirt ("Auties shopping buddy")for Cailin, before we knew she was a baby girl!! Auntie intuition!


Tuesday morning, we headed back up to Akron. We stayed the night with Mom, then today drove back up to Brookings! It is good to be home, but we miss Nicole and Travis!! Can't wait to see them again!

While Cailin and I were traveling down to Arkansas, Leon and Murphy made a trip back to Fairbank/Cedar Falls! Saturday he had his fantasy baseball draft! He also had a great supper at Leo's with his Mom and Dean. Sunday, Myles and Lisa both stopped by.

April 3rd was Dean's Birthday! It was a BIG one - the BIG 5-0!!!! Whoo, hoo!!!! Cailin loves her Grandpa and was sad tobe so far away on his big day! :( HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!!


EASTER
Easter morning Cailin woke up around 7:00 am. We went to church at 9:00 am. Around 10:30 am we went to my Cousins farm near Boyden, IA. It took us about 2 hours to get there. It was GREAT to see my cousins and their kids! Cailin was looking forward to meeting her great-aunt Sharon for the first time, but she wasn't feeling well and ended up going to the hospital! :( We had a GREAT meal and Leon had fun playing kick ball with the boys! Cailin was passed around -- her mom forgot to change her diaper and she ended up pooping through her Easter tights! hee, hee!! Oops! Before we headed back to Brookings we went down the Sioux Center hospital to see my aunt Sharon! We were back to Brookings at 6:30 pm....since then pretty darn lazy!

Random...

Just a random post here! My dog has diarrhea AND I live on the 3rd floor of an apartment building WITH a 4 month old!! AWESOME! Who knew he would be more work then Cailin!! Here's a picture of us after taking Murphy out to the bathroom! It is quite the production!!

We have been working hard trying to solve the house & car situations. I think we are getting closer! Hopefully going to pick up a Ford Fusion tonight!

Going to get a vacuum tomorrow! That's always a fun way to spend money!!

Miss Cailin has started to find her thumb! She must take after her mom and her Great Aunt Sharon!!

We went to the doctor yesterday. Cailin is weighing in at 12 lbs 10 oz, is 24" long and her head size is 15 3/4". She is hitting the charts at 25%, 45% and 25% respectively! He also said she is hitting all of her milestones. Just recently she has found her feet and socks!! She is working on rolling over from her back to belly - she can get to her side then her arm gets in the way!

Okay-- gotta admit, Martha Stewart distracted me a little while typing this. I think she is so strange!?

Gonna get the stroller out and go for a quick walk! Enjoy the day!!!
